About the Project

Abu Dhabi, December 2017 – SNS, a leading provider of consultancies and solutions for supply chain, is proud to announce the successful go-live of the Infor SCE Warehouse Management Solution across eight different sites at Micco Logistics in Abu Dhabi Terminals - Khalifa Port (ADT).

Micco Logistics started out as a Freight Forwarder in 1978. They have since continued to add more services and build their logistics expertise. Today they are a fully integrated Logistics Service Provider. In 2016, Micco Logistics was awarded the management of warehouses and tents stretched over 217,300 SQM and storing polyethylene and polypropylene products at the Khalifa Port Container Terminal operated by Abu Dhabi Terminals at Khalifa Port.

Considering the requirement to handle around 400 containers per day, the need for a best of breed WMS solution to manage the warehousing operation became a must. Alongside offering the Infor SCE WMS, SNS took the opportunity to provide its in-depth expertise into the overall warehouse operations, focusing on the inbound and outbound planning of containers from the terminals port to the appropriate dock of each warehouse. The solution offered Micco an advanced put-away process to assign all containers to the most suitable warehouse for consolidation in order to fully benefit from the storage capacity of each of the facilities and reduce straddle maneuvering inside the port. In addition, the outbound process was organized to allocate and distribute picking tasks per container with an optimized container placement.

One of the challenges of the project was the limited time, constrained by a fixed Go-Live date as Micco had to take-over the management of all warehouses before end of year 2016.

The Infor WMS allows the tracking of batch numbers, container numbers and vessel numbers from time of receiving until shipping. All transactions and data are captured in the warehouse with the aid of wireless handheld devices ensuring fast processing and minimum data entry errors.

“It was a challenging project especially in high season and the process of managing the entire terminals at Khalifa Port before end of year 2016,” said Clifford D’Souza, General Manager at Micco Logistics. “But SNS team was there from the beginning leading the implementation of Infor SCE, advising on best practices in warehousing and providing full dedicated support during go-live.”

“Implementing Infor SCE at 8 different sites in less than two months with Micco Logistics was a thrilling experience. However, SNS has managed to accomplish it successfully with a minimal down-time and during a peak season of the year”, said Bernard Khazzaka, Technical Manager at SNS. “We are pleased with the success and I take this opportunity to thank both Micco Logistics and SNS teams for the efforts they have put.
