About the Project

Beirut, July 2013 – SNS, the leading provider of supply chain consultancies and solutions in the Gulf and Middle-East, is proud to announce the go-live of the Infor Warehouse Management Solution at A.N.Boukather exclusive distributor of Mazda Cars and leading motorcycles and buses brands in Lebanon.

Nicolas Boukhater was a pioneer in the import of motor vehicles to Lebanon when he started shipping cars from The US into the Lebanon, Syria and Iraq in 1908. Following his father’s footsteps, Antoine Boukhater introduced the Mazda brand in Lebanon in 1968, basing his marketing strategy on ensuring customer satisfaction. Recently and abiding by the same strategy, the company built a new state of the art brand center including a mechanical workshop, body repair and paint shop, spare parts storage and a showroom in Nahr El Mot. To ensure minimum service time for customers, ANB partnered with SNS to implement the Infor WMS solution to manage the spare parts warehouse.

The spare parts warehouse is spread on four floors with the larger size parts on the lower floor. Infor WMS manages the receiving operation on a different floor, where every item is checked, entered into the WMS inventory in real-time using handheld devices and segregated into different putaway crates based on their destination. The putaway crate is then moved by elevators to the storage floors where the inventory clerk, and with a single scan on his handheld device, is informed of the storage bin of every item.

Given the high number of items typical of automotive spare parts warehouses, the cycle count process on Infor WMS ensures that the inventory is always at its highest accuracy. When orders are received into the warehouse from the maintenance workshop, a picker is directed using his handheld device to the storage bin of the item where he confirms the pick in real-time and delivers it to the engineer and the customer waiting. The overall cycle designed by SNS on the Warehouse Management system ensure that the products are received, stored and delivered to the end customer with minimum delays.

The Infor WMS solution, and through a collaboration between SNS and ANB ERP vendor, is fully integrated with ANB financial solution to minimize double data entry and secure inventory synchronization.

“SNS have deep knowledge of the automotive industry and spare parts storage,” said Anthony Boukhater, CO-CEO at ANB. “Their professionalism and skills in Warehouse Management system ensured a smooth go-live and the success of the project.”

“We are very pleased to work with such a pioneering company as A.N.Boukather,” said Mario Ghosn, General Manager of SNS. “They are the first automotive company in Lebanon to adopt a WMS to manage their spare parts warehouse and we hope that others will follow on their footsteps.”

In 1908, Nicolas Boukather became a pioneer car importer to the Middle East. He was among the first entrepreneurs ever to imports motor vehicles from the United States of America to Lebanon, Syria, and Iraq. His early success transferred to his son, Antoine Boukather, who took a daring gamble in 1968 and introduced MAZDA, a then unknown Japanese car brand to a selective Lebanese auto market.

At the time, he devised an ingenious way of marketing his product, where he lent cars to friends and potential buyers with the simple mantra, “If you like it you buy it, if not, then you can give it back”.

The first cars that were lent out never made it back to the dealership, and Mazda’s success on the Lebanese territories through A.N Boukather started in a significantly “customer comes first” oriented fashion.

Now 42 years since the relations with Mazda were initiated, and more than a 100 years since Nicolas Boukather involved the family in the Auto trade business, ANB, with both Anthony and Nicolas Boukather Sons and Grandchildren to the founders, has become one of the most dynamic, trusted, and valuable new car, Bikes and bus dealership in Lebanon.
