ISUZU LINEX Goes Live

With SNS

May 10, 2012

Chonburi, Thailand, May 2012 – SNS, a leading international provider of supply chain solutions, in partnership with TD & Company, a premier provider of SAP implementation and consulting service, is pleased to announce it has successfully completed the implementation of the Infor Warehouse Management system at ISUZU LINEX spare parts warehouse in Chonburi, Thailand.

About the Project

ISUZU LINEX, who principally engages in the manufacture and distribution of commercial and transportation vehicles and diesel engines, has recently acquired a new warehouse in Thailand to handle the export of Light Commercial Vehicles (LCV) and their spare parts. The facility distributes ISUZU products in over a hundred countries spread across North America, Europe, Asia, Africa, Middle East, Oceania, South America, Central America and Caribbean, shipping on average 5 containers of mixed parts daily. This new warehouse, located South-East of Bangkok, spans over 15,000 m2 and holds over 12,000 storage locations between shelved bins and stacked movable metallic pallets.

When Isuzu staff visited Airlink warehouses – their 3PL provider – in Jebel Ali Freezone, UAE, they were impressed by the quality of services offered by SNS in the implementation the Warehouse Management System running at the facility. They thus requested from SNS to implement the same solution in their new warehouse in Thailand.

SNS consultants travelled first to Japan where a WMS project prototype was conducted with the help of TD & Company consultant including an information gathering phase, a business review summit, a demo and a Gap Analysis study. Once again, SNS skills and expertise along with the Infor WMS software successfully met ISUZU staff expectations, giving the green light for the full-fledged implementation.

Over 11,000 SKUs are received, stored and shipped using the Infor WMS which was fully integrated by SNS and TD & Company with Isuzu’s SAP ECC ERP using the SNS Integration Platform solution (SIP). WMS features such as RF Directed cluster picking and automatic label printing allow ISUZU to pick and pack around 700 lines daily with minimal travelling time and maximum traceability. Labels and reports developed by SNS along with customized Putaway and allocation strategies ensured that best practices adopted at Tochigi warehouse in Japan are replicated in the new facility maximizing efficiency and generating the satisfactory KPI levels.

“We were impressed with SNS knowledge of warehousing and the automotive requirements along with their ability to map these requirements on their system using the standard features of the WMS where possible,” said Kujiraoka Hiroaki, Group Leader at ISUZU LINEX. “We were also very thankful for their commitment to meet the project milestones regardless of long working hours spent on-site.”

“We were very pleased to be requested by ISUZU LINEX and had the pleasure to work hand in hand with their team,” said Mario Ghosn, General Manager at SNS. “This comes to show that SNS team is truly knowledgeable of best practices in warehousing as well as adaptable to various cultures”.
