Beirut, June 2013 – SNS, the leading provider of supply chain consultancies and solutions in the Gulf and Middle-East, is proud to announce the go-live of the Infor Warehouse Management solution at Transmed, one of the largest distributors of FMCG products in the Middle-East.

About the Project

Beirut, June 2013 – SNS, the leading provider of supply chain consultancies and solutions in the Gulf and Middle-East, is proud to announce the go-live of the Infor Warehouse Management solution at Transmed Beirut, one of the largest distributors of FMCG products in the Middle-East.

Transmed was established in Lebanon in 1946 as a private shareholding company that soon grew to become a renowned distributor of FMCG products that includes P&G, Mars, Coca Cola, Americana and others. Transmed is currently present in more than 20 countries in the Middle-East and Africa.

Transmed’s growth meant that their logistics had to evolve to cater to the wide spectrum of different store formats they deliver to, including hypermarkets, supermarkets, self-service stores, groceries and pharmacies. Their coverage also extended to the non-traditional channels including petrol stations, schools, hotels, restaurants, clubs and other recreational outlets. To ensure their distribution centers coped with their sales demands, Transmed enlisted SNS to provide them with a Best-of-Breed Warehouse Management System. Having first implemented the solution at several of the warehouses in the UAE, Transmed and SNS turned their attention to Lebanon’s warehouses where the decision was taken to run the latest version of the Infor WMS.

Transmed operates 3 facilities in Lebanon which are located in Mkalles and Choueifat with a total capacity of 22,500 Pallet positions and a surface of 15,000 square meters. The Infor WMS solution enables Transmed to handle the various products in different units of measure such as Pallets, Cases, Inner Packs or Pieces on receiving as well as order picking. The ability of Infor WMS to easily capture Batch Numbers and Expiry Dates on product receiving was critical to the proper rotation of inventory in the warehouse and reduction of expiries.

The use of handhelds, native to Infor WMS, allowed Transmed to reduce operations time and paper printing costs through the use of RF Directed Picking as well as Cluster Picking for their non-traditional channels. The Infor WMS solution was integrated with JDE Edwards ERP through the SNS Integration Platform (SIP) thus minimizing document processing time and ensuring both systems are constantly synched. The full solution currently handles the receiving and shipping of more than a thousand lines on a daily basis.

“SNS showed professionalism and accountability during the implementation of Infor 10,” said Mr. Saleh Al Gharib, Supply Chain Manager at Transmed. “They stuck with the original plan despite some requests for last minute changes and stayed with us on site making sure the solution is running smoothly and users are comfortable supporting it on their own.”

“Transmed has always been more than a client to SNS,” said Mario Ghosn, General Manager of SNS. “We have gone through many projects together and strongly believe that their success is our success.”
