About the Project

Bahrain, June 2012 – SNS, the leading provider of supply chain consultancies and solutions in the Gulf and Middle-East, is proud to announce the successful upgrade of the WMS solution at the CPD division of Intercol, one of the Kingdom’s most highly respected conglomerates.

Intercol uses the Infor Warehouse Management system (previously known as Exceed) to manage a 35,600 square meters warehouse with a capacity of around 16,000 pallets storing dry, chilled and frozen goods under one roof. The facility houses, among others, the Consumer Products Division with principals such as Philipp Morris, Reckitt Benckiser, GE and others, the Gulf Warehousing and Distribution Center as well as the joint venture with Nestlé Bahrain. Intercol manages over 44,000 SKUs in this facility.

As one of SNS’ oldest customers, Intercol was still running on Exceed 2.x version of the WMS that was deployed in 1999. Since then, the software has evolved into one of the world leading solutions for warehousing with a web based platform, functionalities for world-class operations and built-in advanced billing system for 3PLs. Intercol decided to move the new version of the solution to benefit from the added functionalities and abide by its commitment to customer satisfaction and cost-effective measures.

The upgraded solution allows Intercol to further control its receiving operation with various validation and information capture capabilities, run a paperless environment which is planned for the next phase after the upgrade go-live as well as implement an optimized cycle counting procedure. Among the challenges of the upgrade was the data migration given the amount of change the database incurred in 13 years, the migration of all interfaces with Nestlé and other customers along with the development of new Standard Operating Procedures accommodating the new system procedures and the existing processes.

“We have always believed in the added value of SNS in supporting our WMS product,” said, Mr. Syed Faizullah, IT Manager at Intercol. “Their dedication to complete the upgrade with minimal impact to our business despite the long working hours has been the key to the success of the project.”

“We pride ourselves in retaining a customer such as Intercol for more than 13 years now on our WMS solution,” said Mohammed Obaidah, Director of Services at SNS. “This is a constant reminder to our team of the value of supporting our customer and keeping them satisfied at all times.”
